Membership
Athens YMCA
A Northeast Georgia tradition since 1857.
Seeing Who We Serve
The YMCA is here to serve the entire community, and we open our doors to everyone. There are so many faces and stories behind the mission of the YMCA. In fact, people are always sharing their life-changing experiences with us. We know of some people who joined the Y as children and took swim lessons and participated in day camp. As they grew into their teen years, they were active in YMCA leadership programs, and as adults, they served as a mentors to local youth. As they married and had children, they found themselves at the Y for family activities and enrolled their own children into swim lessons and day camp. As active older adults, they found fun and fellowship in our seniors programs. Some people grow up with the YMCA as a part of their lives, while others find the YMCA later in life. As a matter of fact, our members range in age from less than one to over 100. No matter what age people discover the YMCA, they know they are a part of something special. The YMCA is with you for a lifetime.

Out of town (living outside the Athens YMCA service area of Clarke, Oconee, Madison, Jackson, Barrow, and Oglethorpe counties) guests may utilize the YMCA facilities as a guest of an existing member. Designed for situations where a YMCA adult (18 years and up) member might have his/her family visiting and would to take them to visit the YMCA. Those guests can visit the YMCA for up to one week (with the YMCA member accompanying them each visit). The behavior and supervision of said guests is the responsibility of the member.
National Away Program
The majority of YMCA's across the USA will allow you to use their facilities for a nominal fee. Just present your Athens YMCA membership card. Members from participating YMCA's outside the Athens service area may use our facility. Out of town YMCA visitors must present their home YMCA card at the Membership Services Desk. There are separate locker rooms for children under 18. * Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the facility or on the grounds. * Pets are not permitted in the facility or on the grounds. * Report any damaged equipment or maintenance problems to a YMCA staff member. * The YMCA may terminate membership without cause at any time - determination by the YMCA's Executive Director. Members may be asked to change attire if the member's attire is not considered suitable. The Athens YMCA is a family facility - please do not put staff in an uncomfortable situation.
** Children 15 and under drop-off policy: To insure the safety of our youth members and guests, they may be dropped off only for the duration of an activity in which they are enrolled.
I.D. Policy / Membership Cards
Members are issued a temporary I.D. card at the time they join the YMCA. A hand scanner is used at our check-in desk. Member information will be entered into the computer system within three business days. After that time, members will be required to use the scanner. Membership cards are available for those members who may travel (A.W.A.Y. Program), or who utilize our Winder branch. Just stop by the YMCA's business office.

1. Bank Draft is a automatic/electronic/continuous debit from your checking account on the 15th of each month. The automatic bank draft is not a "contract", and can be cancelled at any time with 30 days notice to the YMCA. The YMCA's front office has the cancellation forms. In addition, bank drafts can be placed on hold for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months when situations arise where a member needs to "freeze" their membership, and they do not want to incur the joiner fee again upon re-joining.
2. 3 Month, 6 Month, or Annual memberships are paid up front upon joining (prepaid for that chosen time period). Special note: The 3 month membership is roughly a 15% increase over the normal monthly draft amount.
3. Health Club - the men's and women's health club is an upgraded locker room that includes things
such as a whirlpool, dry sauna, wet steam, towel service, toiletries, etc.
