Seeing Who We Serve

The YMCA is here to serve the entire community, and we open our doors to everyone. There are so many faces and stories behind the mission of the YMCA. In fact, people are always sharing their life-changing experiences with us. We know of some people who joined the Y as children and took swim lessons and participated in day camp. As they grew into their teen years, they were active in YMCA leadership programs, and as adults, they served as a mentors to local youth. As they married and had children, they found themselves at the Y for family activities and enrolled their own children into swim lessons and day camp. As active older adults, they found fun and fellowship in our seniors programs. Some people grow up with the YMCA as a part of their lives, while others find the YMCA later in life. As a matter of fact, our members range in age from less than one to over 100. No matter what age people discover the YMCA, they know they are a part of something special. The YMCA is with you for a lifetime.

Athens YMCA Guest Policy

The Athens YMCA’s number one priority is to serve our members who have made a commitment to the YMCA by joining.  The purpose behind our Guest Policy is to enhance member services to current members who are encouraging a friend to join or have out-of-town family members visiting, and to offer an opportunity for non-members to try out our facility before committing to join.

In-Town Guests (visiting with an Athens YMCA member):

  • In-Town guests are those individuals that reside in our service area (Clarke, Oconee, Jackson, Madison, and Oglethorpe Counties).  All in-town guests must visit with a member and will receive one pass per year at no cost.  Additional visits will require a purchase of a guest pass or membership.
  • In-Town guests will be required to complete the Guest Registration Process- show I.D. and sign the guest waiver before entry is granted. Once entry is granted, guests must adhere to the Athens YMCA’s code of conduct and all policies and procedures.

In-Town Guests (visiting without a member):

  • In-Town guests visiting without a member will be required to purchase a guest pass, complete the guest registration process- show I.D. and sign the guest waiver before entry is granted. Once entry is granted, guests must adhere to the Athens YMCA’s code of conduct and all policies and procedures. Please note: Guests who have purchased a daily pass can have the $15 credited towards a membership if they decide to join the same day the guest pass was bought.

Out of Town Guests (visiting with a member):

Member information will be entered into the computer system within three business days. After that time, members will be required to use the scanner.
